There are a lot of unhappy people in the world today and the number seems to be only growing. Why is this? I bet if you asked them, they would say something along the lines of they don’t have enough. Not enough money, not enough friends. Just not enough…well, stuff. This increase in materialism has people’s priorities all out of whack.

Think about this for a moment – If you’re not happy with what you have now, you’ll never be happy.

If you don’t know what that means, allow me to explain.

If you place your happiness in how many possessions you own, you’ll never be happy because you’ll always be wanting more. This is how to live a negative life.

This also goes along the same lines with people who feel entitled to things which seems to be a growing trend among young adults today.

When we feel entitled, our value for the things depreciates. The more entitled we feel, the more ungrateful we become. And again, the more ungrateful we are, the unhappier we will be.

In contrast, the more content we are with the things we already have, the happier we will be. If there was just one thing to attribute to living a more positive life, it’s gratitude. That’s it. It’s like Sheryl Crow says, “it’s not having what you want. It’s wanting what you’ve got”.

To be content means to be satisfied with what you have already and a lot more people could be content. Let’s start with you!

We’ve already established last time that to start living a more positive life, one needs to change their mindset. Coupled with this, you have the basis of turning your life right side up.

The very foundation for creating a happier life for yourself: attitude and gratitude.

You need to start thinking positively and being grateful what the things you have already.

When gratitude becomes a default setting, your life begins to turn around.

What are you thankful for today?
